Cantina Gattavecchi Montepulciano

T!e story of wine is inseparable from the history of Montepulciano, and Cantina Gattavecchi forms an important part of this rich panorama.
Underneath the church of Santa Maria dei Servi, historically the Convento dei Padri Serviti built in 1200, there is a large underground gallery carved out of the tufa. For generations Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has been aged here, and a walk through it leads to hidden treasure – a perfectly preserved, ancient Etruscan tomb.

MEETING ROOM AND TASTIN ROOM

On the upper "oor, the old refectory, which has been recently restored, and the terrace, with its panoramic view, oFer a unique setting in which to taste our wines and olive
oil paired with local specialities.
Located in the upper part of Montepulciano near the Piazza Grande and at the foot of the Medicean Fortress, the cantina has a striking view overlooking the Tempio di San
Biagio. The cantina can be reached by car or minibus, and there is ample, free parking available. It is also an excellent stopping point for tours of Montepulciano.
In addition to tastings, we offer one-hour tours guided by the producers, Gionata and Daniela. Among the pleasures of visiting our cantina is meeting Bruna, who has been with
Gattavecchi for 50 years, and was elected “Cantiniera” (Wine Shop Keeper) of the year in 2005.

Tasting glasses and descriptive materials of each wine
will be provided.
Direct sales from the cantina, and domestic and international
shipments can be arranged. Credit cards are accepted.
